It is crucial to bear in mind that wildlife expeditions are inherently unpredictable. Snow Leopards, being highly elusive creatures, with low population densities across expansive home ranges in challenging mountain terrain. This makes sightings particularly special but also elusive event.
Day01
Arrival in Dushanbe collapse
Upon arrival in Dushanbe, our team will welcome you at the airport and facilitate your transfer to the hotel. Take some time to rest and recharge. Following breakfast, embark on a visit to the Museum of Antiquities. After a satisfying lunch, the journey continues to Hissar district, situated 30 km west of Dushanbe. Explore the Hissar Fortress, dating back to the 18th century, also two Madrasahs from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as a 16th-century mausoleum. Return to Dushanbe in the evening and spend the night at the hotel.
Day02
Dushanbe –Zighar (1200m) collapse
Following breakfast, our drivers will load the luggage onto the vehicles, marking the commencement of our journey towards the Zighar hunting camp. Enjoy lunch at a traditional restaurant in Kulyab. The adventure unfolds as we proceed to drive along the Panj River towards the Pamir Mountains, providing a close glimpse of the Afghan lifestyle and offering breathtaking views of the Pamir highway. Take some time to rest and acclimatize to the surroundings upon arrival. Conclude the day with dinner and spend the night in a guesthouse in Zighar. (B/L/D)

Zighar (1200m) collapse
The conservancies nestled between Kulob and Qalai-Khumb are renowned for their markhors, and Zighar, situated on the border with Afghanistan and not far from Kulob, stands out as a prime location for observing these magnificent creatures. Despite the challenging hiking routes, Zighar offers one of the most accessible opportunities in the world to possibly witness markhors in their natural habitat. Zighar –Rushan (2000m) collapse
Embark on a scenic drive along the Panj River, tracing the Afghan border, and revel in the picturesque views. Upon reaching Rushan, settle into a comfortable homestay. The day's itinerary includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the homestay. (B/L/D)
Day05
Rushan – Jizev (2740m) collapse
On the following day, embark on a 5 km drive along the Pamir Highway, followed by a captivating detour to the Bartang Valley, leading up to the Jizev Bridge. Jisev village, an ecological gem in the Pamirs, remains untouched by vehicle roads or electrical cabling. Utilizing solar energy or small generators, some houses in this pristine valley exemplify sustainable living. With only around 12 houses, Jizev valley boasts numerous small, beautiful lakes, bird species, herbs, and a few groves, making it a highly sought-after destination for visitors. Cross the Bartang River via a wooden bridge, and from there, embark on a trek to Jisev village. Spend two days exploring the picturesque Jizev valley in search of snow leopards and other wildlife, with overnights in a homestay. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provide during your stay. Commence the day with an early morning walk, venturing deeper into the captivating Jizev valley. Engage in the exploration of this snow leopard territory, keeping an eye out for the elusive creatures along with other fascinating wildlife. The valley, enveloping the village, presents excellent opportunities to witness not only snow leopards but also other inhabitants like wolves, ibex, foxes, eagles, and various bird species. Jizev – Ravmed Gorge collapse
In the early morning, following breakfast, we bid farewell to our gracious hosts and retrace our steps back to the bridge. Continuing our journey, we follow the road along the Bartang River upstream, reaching Khijez village, the gateway to the impressive Ravmeddara Gorge. Ravmed, yet another picturesque village in the Bartang Valley, boasts a remote location and untouched landscapes. This charming village serves as an ideal base for treks and expeditions into the surrounding high mountains, offering ample opportunities for adventure and exploration. Spend the day exploring Ravmed, which is renowned as the most popular destination for trips dedicated to spotting snow leopards. "The inaugural community-based conservancy (CBC) was established in 2009 within the Ravmed Gorge by local traditional hunters, supported with some international aid. In just a few years, the ibex and snow leopard populations flourished, becoming less elusive and more accessible for observation. These positive outcomes inspired neighboring villages to contemplate wildlife conservation. Within a short span, four additional community-based conservancies were established, all of which are currently highly active.” Your local guide provides a unique opportunity to delve into the history and culture of the Pamiri people. Explore the traditional houses known as 'Pomeri Chud,' meticulously preserved in their original style. Immerse yourself in the ancient language, visit the locally established museum, and partake in trekking adventures led by experienced guides, allowing you to discover the captivating nature of the Bartang Valley and engage in wildlife observation organized by the conservancy. Upon arrival in Darzhomch village, witness the art of crafting the renowned Pamiri socks, with the option to purchase some as unique souvenirs. Darzhomch – Kalai Khumb (1200m) collapse

Kalai Khumb – Dushanbe collapse
After breakfast, embark on a journey to Dushanbe, tracing the scenic route along the Panj River through a myriad of local villages. Marvel at the deep rocky valleys and stunning mountains that accompany you until the Shurobod pass before reaching Kulab city. Enjoy a delightful lunch in a Chaikana (teahouse). En route, make a stop to visit the 11th-century Hulbuk fortress, and take in the views of the world's highest hydropower station, Nurek, from a distance.
